The Department of Homeland Security worked with the University of Alabama at Birmingham to design methods for assigning “risk scores” to potential pro-terrorists accounts on social media.
- “Night Fury”, the assigned name of the project, looked to automate the identification process and document performance measures and metrics.
🇨🇳 China uses a ‘social credit’ system rating its citizens on financial creditworthiness, tracks compliance and legal violations, and more.
- While Night Fury was canned in 2019, it shows that the DHS is looking at ways to better track and monitor US citizens similar to China’s social credit system.
